Rice Robotics Club is thrilled to announce RICE ROBO-RUMBLE, our first-ever hosted Battlebots competition at Rice University! We're thrilled to host teams from across Texas as they pit their Plastic Antweight, Antweight, and Beetleweight robots against each other in our custom-built 8x8x4 feet arena. Whether you're competing or spectating, this is an event you won’t want to miss!​

Event Location and Parking
Rice Robo-Rumble 2025 will be hosted at the Rice Memorial Center (RMC).
For Competitors
Parking is included in the $20 registration fee. You will want to use your parking pass to park in West Lot 4, which is down the road from the Rice Memorial Center.

For Spectators
Spectators will need to purchase a parking pass and park in West Lot 4.

Waiver and Registration Fees
Every robot must have a registration fee paid in order to compete at the event. You may pay online using this link. Alternatively, we will take cash and card payments in-person during check-in.

All competitors must sign a waiver before competing. We will have physical waivers available on-site to complete, or you can print and sign your waiver ahead of time.
Rules

SPARC ruleset with the following points of emphasis:

Shuffler weight bonus has been reduced to 1.25 in 2025.

Plastic Ant Specs: Traditional SPARC Rules. No nylons, tpu or metal etc.

Exposed batteries are automatic forfeits
-
One unstick per fight (if you become unintentionally stuck in the arena).

Beware: forks get stuck in the arena walls

No entanglements
-
Tapouts are allowed
-
Match length: 2 minutes.

Robots get minimum 20 minutes between matches for repairs.

Robots not ready in time will be forced to forfeit.

Bracket format double elimination.

Most Important Rule - HAVE FUN!
Pit Setup

Good amount of space. Smaller teams may share a table.

Power is available, bring extension cords, power strips, lipo bags etc.

Bring your own power tools but use them outside in a specified location
Battle Box
Our custom-bult arena is 8x8 with wood kick plates and wood floors.
